This little girl was a dreamer and a doer and an unabashed lover. She was a joy magnet curious about every human she met. I spend my life walking in the direction of all the possibilities she saw.
As a coach and leadership doula, my goals are simple: I want Black women and artists to thrive on their own terms.
My 15 years of experience in non-profits and social justice work in high-impact organizations with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion have shown me firsthand how imposter syndrome, white supremacy, and invisible ceilings can lead incredible leaders of color to feel like they are speaking another language entirely, and lose their authentic voice. My lifelong journey as a writer has shown me all the ways that self-doubt and external noise can stem our creative output. I support my clients to get loud about their own wants and desires, get clear about their unique contributions to the world, and move to action.
I’ve edited anthologies, curated literary salons with meals remixed from my mama’s kitchen, designed, led, and facilitated workshops and sessions for hundreds of BIPOC folks across the U.S., and published my fiction, poetry, and essays widely. I’m a mother, auntie, homie, and am fiercely protective of the hearts of those I love.
P.S. - if you’re wondering what a leadership doula is, it’s how I began describing what I aim to be in my clients’ lives: To assist you through the storms, with the hope of bringing peace, stability, confidence, and knowledge to all the grand things you are ready to birth.
